Jamega Tour Luton Hoo 30 May 2017

Luton Hoo Golf Club

Round 1

70 (-3)

Another Jamega Tour tournament and a fantastic venue at the lovely Luton Hoo.

I was one of the first to go out and I knew I had to take advantage of easier conditions.

A very steady start of 7 straight pars started my tournament with a couple of  missed birdie chances however a birdie at the par 5 eighth got me into red figures and reach the turn at -1.

The round felt very under control and a birdie at 11 got me to -2 before my first and only bogey of the day happened on the 13th a difficult par 3.

A strong finish to the round with a near ace at the 15th and a two putt birdie at 16 saw me climb to -3 and that’s where I would finish for the day.

Luton Hoo

Round 2

77 (+4)

An exciting day ahead and hopefully more birdies to try and climb the leaderboard.

A quick drop shot at the first was soon erased on the second with a birdie to remain at -3 for the tournament.

A few missed birdie putts and a dropped  second shot at the par 4 sixth, but still plus one for the day and still -2 for the tournament I knew I had to make a move sooner or later.

I birdied the 11th, but gave it straight back at the 12th. Frustrations continued with a careless bogey at 15 before the unfortunate events on 17.  A poor tee shot saw me beneath a huge tree in the centre of the fairway.

I thought I could try and still reach the green so went with a three iron but as soon as I made contact the ball moved sideways from what felt like was a tree root that I had struck at impact.

My tournament run was over but after my poor week at magnolia it felt like a small step in the right direction and that if I can just keep the destructive scores off the card I will start putting together some decent results.

Here’s my scorecard

As always, thanks for your support

Until next time

Matt
