Jamega Tour Magnolia Park 22 May 2017

Magnolia Park Golf Club

This week I played in a Jamega Tour event at Magnolia Park Golf Club

Magnolia Park has both good memories for me over the past couple of years – highlights include my team last year winning the Pro-Am! plus the added bonus of me finishing as 2nd placed pro on the day.

I was looking forward to getting another tournament underway and got off to a nice steady start.

Round 1

A few pars to start with and then a couple of stray tee shots left me in some trouble.

A bogey at the 3rd followed by a ball out of bounds on the 4th which led to a triple and I was already on the back foot.

Another string of pars and a great birdie at 9 got me round the turn in three over but more trouble was to follow on the back 9.

Dropped shots at 10,11 and 12 then back to back doubles on 14 and 15 saw my score racking up and with dropping a further shot at 17 my round came to a close with a disappointing 84.

Round 2

After the first days round I knew that I should just treat the second round as a way of finding some kind of form.

What a Start with a birdie blitz at holes 1,2 and 3 I couldn’t have wished for a better way to start.

I did, however, drop a couple of shots on my way in and I  reached the turn in level par.

Still feeling very positive as I knew there were some birdie chances still to come.

Some steady pars followed up and with a great birdie at 13 got me back into red figures for the day.

A couple of dropped shots, but no real issue as I was feeling confident of a strong finish and a solid tee shot at 17 saw me drop another birdie putt and after a pinpoint wedge into 18 saw me make another birdie to finish the day at -1

It was great to recover from such a bad first day the way I did and now I could look forward to next weeks event.

Here’s my scorecard

As always,  thanks for your support and don’t forget to enjoy your own golf

Until next time

Matt
